Construction Materials Testing Technician
Location: Huntsville, AL
Job Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time
ASAP is hiring on behalf of our client for a direct hire Senior Construction Materials Testing Technician opportunity in Huntsville, AL. We are seeking experienced Construction Materials Testing (CMT) professionals with strong field inspection and materials testing experience in commercial, industrial, and civil construction environments.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Perform site observations of earthwork, utility backfill, excavations, and foundation construction
- Conduct construction materials testing and special inspections in accordance with project specifications and industry standards
- Collect material samples and perform field testing to monitor compliance with construction specifications
- Document inspections, testing activities, testing logs, work items, and photo records electronically through online reporting systems
- Travel to active construction job sites using company vehicles
- Coordinate and communicate with Project Managers, contractors, design teams, building officials, and clients while onsite
- Maintain testing equipment and company vehicles in proper working order
- Perform additional field and inspection duties as assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of Construction Materials Testing (CMT) and/or geotechnical field inspection experience
- Current ACI Field Concrete Testing certification
- At least 2 active ICC Certifications required
- Experience performing soil, concrete, asphalt, grout, or reinforcing steel inspections/testing
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to work outdoors and travel to construction sites as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- ICC Special Inspection Certifications
- Radiation Safety / Nuclear Gauge Certification (APNGA preferred)
- Experience with earthwork, utility, and foundation inspections
- Construction or geotechnical engineering experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems
- Strong communication and documentation skills
