Senior Controls Engineer
An established international consulting engineering firm is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead the design, programming, and execution of automation projects across the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and food & beverage industries.
This is a high-impact, client-facing role offering the opportunity to own projects from concept through commissioning while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. The position is primarily remote, with periodic travel for site visits and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of automation systems using Allen-Bradley PLC/PAC platforms and FactoryTalk View ME/SE HMI/SCADA
- Develop control panel, network, and instrumentation specifications
- Manage full project lifecycle: system design, client coordination, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning
- Conduct site surveys and prepare as-built documentation
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (UL508A, NEC)
- Lead commissioning activities and provide on-site technical support
- Mentor junior team members and support collaborative project execution
- Interface directly with clients to define scope, resolve technical challenges, and deliver solutions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology
- 6 years of experience in controls engineering within manufacturing, system integration, or consulting environments
- Strong hands-on experience with: Rockwell Automation (Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000), FactoryTalk View ME / SE
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for control panel design and electrical construction packages
- Experience leading or independently executing automation projects and commissioning efforts
Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
