About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Design Project Manager to lead the design phase of complex technical projects across engineering and facility-focused environments. This role is ideal for a self-sufficient, client-facing professional who can manage both technical execution and project financial performance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the design phase of multiple projects from concept through design completion
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process, and/or architectural)
- Own project financials, including estimating, budgeting, man-hours, staffing plans, and earned value tracking
- Actively monitor project performance by digging into scope, schedule, budget, and progress—not waiting for monthly reports
- Plan, schedule, and facilitate internal and external project meetings
- Serve as a primary client-facing contact, providing clear, confident communication on project status
- Ensure projects stay aligned with scope, quality standards, schedule, and financial targets
Qualifications:
- 5–10 years of project management experience within design or engineering environments specifically within Life Sciences.
- Background in an engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process); architectural background considered
- Proven experience managing technical projects and financial performance simultaneously
- Strong understanding of estimating, manpower planning, earned value, and project controls
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
- Demonstrated client-facing experience with strong communication skills
