What are the responsibilities and job description for the Generator Specialist position at Allied Power Group?
Generator Specialists inspect, test and repair generator stators, rotors and exciters and clients’ locations.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
- Perform LOTO inspection prior to performing any work
- Visually inspect and test the generator components
- Perform repairs to generator components
- Supervise crews during inspecting, testing and repair operations
- Communicate with site customer contacts as an on site technical expert
- Ensure safe completion of all defined work scope tasks
- Maintain all assigned test equipment and tooling
- Book all travel and lodging as per company policy
- Set up and perform all applicable stator testing to include but not limited to El Cid, Doble, WTD, Hipot, PI, Step test, RTD testing, Bump test.
- Set up and perform all applicable rotor testing to include but not limited to Megger, PI, RSO, impedance, diode testing
- Perform stator and rotor rewinds, rewedges, end winding stability installs, cleaning, blocking repairs, core torque etc.

WORK QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean record
- 2-5 years of generator repair experience
- Solid understanding of Ac and Dc electrical theory
- 2 years’ experience in supervising crews
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
