Primary Objectives of Position:
The Grain Site Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate handling of grain at the facility. This role supports daily operations including receiving, drying, storing, load-out, and maintaining grain quality, while ensuring all activities follow company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Responsibilities of the Position:
Grain Handling & Operations
- Operate grain handling equipment (conveyors, legs, grain dryers, augers, aeration systems).
- Monitor moisture levels, test grain quality, document results and ensure fans are run under favorable conditions.
- Assist with receiving inbound grain and loading outbound trucks/rail.
- Maintain accurate records of scale tickets, inventory movements, and daily logs.
Facility Maintenance
- Perform routine cleaning, housekeeping, and bin management to maintain a safe, organized site.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and report mechanical issues.
- Assist in seasonal preparation (pre-harvest setup, winterizing, etc.).
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols, including lock-out/tag-out, confined space entry, and PPE requirements.
- Participate in safety meetings, training, and inspections.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with environmental and grain quality standards.
Customer Service
- Interact with farmers, truck drivers, and vendors in a professional, courteous manner.
- Provide clear directions during unloading and loading procedures.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds, bend, stand for long periods of time, and have good finger dexterity
