Primary Objectives of Position:
A qualified candidate assists the crop consulting staff supervising the seasonal field scouting activities and advising growers on the management of all pests and diseases. The candidate will also assist in the activities involved in crop nutrient management and make recommendations for fertilizer inputs as necessary. The candidate will balance a load of grower scouting acres/fields. The necessary training and guidance will be provided.
Responsibilities of the Position:
In the field:
- Supervise summer interns and take part in routine crop scouting activity.
- Supervise summer interns and take part in routine soil and tissue sampling.
- Review scouting reports. Conduct follow up on scout observations.
- Make crop input recommendations and report to the grower.
- Be the intermediary between the grower and any diagnostic lab testing.
Duties related to business management:
- Assist in summer intern interviews.
- Attend career fairs.
- Attend industry promotional events.
- Attend various industry educational events.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Possess a four-year degree in Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Biology, Entomology or other biological science.
- Be capable and willing to conduct the physical field scouting duties under all weather conditions.
- Understands the seasonal time and schedule requirements involved in agriculture work.
- Successfully complete the Wisconsin CCA certification within two years of employment.
- Be capable and willing to expand their job description and duties.
