Job Overview

Duties

• Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
• Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate medical documentation within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems.
• Support medication administration under supervision, adhering to HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques to maintain patient safety.
• Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, including memory care strategies and behavioral health support.
• Assist in clinical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy preparation, and infection control practices in various settings like ICU (Intensive Care Unit), PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or surgical units.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care, post-acute care, outpatient clinics, or hospice environments to deliver comprehensive patient service.
• Maintain a safe environment by following infection control protocols and utilizing equipment such as the Hoyer lift or other mobility aids effectively.

Skills

• Proven experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental delays, or behavioral health needs in settings like long-term care or assisted living.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support procedures essential for patient safety.
• Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks to ensure accurate medical documentation.
• Experience in specialized areas including Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, or trauma centers (Level I & II).
• Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments such as emergency medicine or urgent care settings while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong caregiving skills complemented by excellent communication abilities to support patients across pediatric to geriatric populations.
• Competence in performing vital signs measurement, catheter care, aseptic techniques, and basic medical-surgical procedures confidently.
