Job Title

Drug and Alcohol Collector

Job Summary

The Drug and Alcohol Collector is responsible for performing DOT and Non-DOT drug and

alcohol testing services in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations,

company policies, and industry best practices. This position ensures the integrity of the

collection process while providing professional, confidential, and courteous service to clients and

donors. The Collector must be available to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings,

evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as needed to meet client demands.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Perform DOT and Non-DOT urine drug specimen collections.
  • Perform directly observed drug collections in accordance with DOT 49 CFR Part 40 and

Company Policy When Required.

  • Conduct breath alcohol testing in accordance with federal regulations.
  • Verify donor identity and explain collection procedures.
  • Maintain accurate chain of custody documentation and complete all required forms.
  • Ensure all collections are performed according to DOT, OSHA, and company protocols.
  • Prepare specimens for shipment to certified laboratories.
  • Maintain confidentiality of donor and employer information at all times.
  • Monitor and maintain collection supplies, testing equipment, and inventory.
  • Perform quality assurance checks and maintain required documentation.
  • Provide professional customer service to employers, employees, and clinic patients.
  • Travel to employer worksites and mobile collection events as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional collection area.
  • Complete all required training, certifications, and continuing education.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current DOT Urine Specimen Collector certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Breath Alcohol Technician (BAT) certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to perform directly observed drug collections while maintaining professionalism,

confidentiality, and compliance with DOT regulations.

  • Experience in occupational health, healthcare, or customer service preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer and electronic documentation skills.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation preferred for mobile collections.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel to employer locations and mobile collection sites.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform testing procedures and documentation.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge of DOT 49 CFR Part 40 regulations preferred or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures with accuracy.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strict compliance with company policies

and federal regulations
