Surgical Coordinator – Pain Management Division

Alliance Health System is seeking an experienced Surgical Coordinator to join our growing team! This is a hybrid position after 90 days! Providing white-glove surgical scheduling experience for patients. The surgery coordinator will arrange and organize the surgical calendar and serve as a liaison between the physicians, patients and various other entities. To be successful in this role, one must have basic knowledge of varied insurance plans as well as medical terminology.

Summary of Responsibilities:
- Candidates must be able to demonstrate familiarity and basic knowledge of varied insurance plans as well as knowledge of medical terminology
- Must be organized and able to work in a fast paced, high-volume environment with excellent follow-through
- Ability to multitask while producing accurate work
- General understanding of the organization, functions, policies and procedures of the department, and the inter-relationship with the hospitals/ASCs where our physicians operate and the ability to apply that knowledge to the work of the office
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with an advanced ability to communicate professionally and effectively with physicians and administrative staff and patients
- Flexible, personable, extremely organized and detail-oriented individual with the ability to interface with a heavy patient volume
- Schedule patient appointments and surgeries, send reminders to patients, and schedule emergency and add-on surgeries
- Understand surgical procedures such as the necessary surgery duration, in order to properly maintain a surgical schedule
- Ensure all surgical cases are scheduled in a timely manner in accordance with the physician's directions
Requirements:
- Familiarity with Prior Authorization, NJ Fault and Workers' Comp
- Experience with Medical Clearance
- Good computer, telephone, and typing skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Familiarity with terminology, medical records, and medical coding
- Bachelors degree or equivalent (Preferred)
