Description:
- Operate heavy equipment such as roll off trucks, semi-trucks, front-end loaders, skid steers, cranes, excavators, forklifts, reach stackers, bulldozers, and haul trucks in an industrial mill environment.
- Transport and handle slag, scrap metal, raw materials, and by-products in and around the mill.
- Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety issues.
- Safely load, unload, and transport materials to designated areas as directed by supervisors.
- Monitor equipment operation and troubleshoot issues to avoid downtime or unsafe conditions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including routine cleanup and material handling.
- Follow all company and site-specific safety policies, procedures, and practices.
- Assist with general labor tasks as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate job tasks and priorities.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
- Exposure to dust, heat, cold, noise, and moving equipment in a mill or industrial plant environment.
- Strong knowledge of safe equipment operation and job site safety standards.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in extreme weather conditions.
- Familiarity with the functions and routine maintenance of various types of heavy equipment.
- Team player with a strong work ethic and a commitment to safety and productivity.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, or holidays as required.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL a plus.
