Position Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing a limited yet delicious bar menu using non–hood-required equipment. This role focuses on consistency, food safety, speed, and adapting to a compact kitchen environment. Ideal for someone who can multitask, stay organized, and keep calm even when the bar is buzzing.
Key Responsibilities:Food Preparation & Cooking
- Prepare all menu items using approved equipment.
- Follow portion sizes, recipe specs, and presentation standards.
- Ensure all food is fresh and served quickly—especially during peak hours.
Food Safety & Cleanliness
- Maintain strict food handling, labeling, and storage practices.
- Keep prep areas sanitized throughout shifts.
- Follow all health code rules specific to kitchens without ventilation hoods.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned and maintained daily.
Menu & Inventory Support
- Assist with prepping workstation ingredients (cutting, mixing, portioning).
- Track low-stock items and communicate shortages to management.
- Suggest improvements for workflow or menu efficiency.
Operational Responsibilities
- Set up and break down the kitchen area each shift.
- Monitor cook times and equipment settings.
- Coordinate with bartenders and servers for smooth food service.
- Maintain accurate ticket timing and prioritize orders appropriately.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in food prep or bar/kitchen preferred.
- Comfort working with compact, fast-paced cooking setups.
- Knowledge of basic food safety (ServSafe certification a plus).
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and handle rush periods.
- Must be able to lift 25–40 lbs and stand for extended periods
Working Conditions:
- Small kitchen space.
- Fast-paced bar environment with noise, crowds, and fluctuating volume.
- Evening and weekend availability required - including Sundays
