Position Overview
We’re looking for an experienced Small Engine Mechanic to become part of our team. The right candidate will have hands-on experience repairing and maintaining a wide range of small engine equipment—everything from chainsaws and trimmers to lawn mowers. This position requires strong diagnostic skills, mechanical aptitude, and attention to detail. Our Mechanic should be self-driven, organized with billing and recordkeeping, and capable of providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and log customer equipment for service or repair
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues accurately
- Perform maintenance, adjustments, and full repairs on engines and machines
- Test equipment to confirm all repairs meet performance standards
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers about repair needs and status updates
- Collaborate with coworkers to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of jobs
- Provide mobile or on-site repair services when needed
- Assemble, inspect, and prepare new equipment for sale
- Maintain and inspect rental inventory for proper operation and safety
- Occasionally perform welding or light fabrication work
- Partner with the service manager to prepare trade-in estimates and repair quotes
- Record labor and parts used, and create accurate invoices within the POS system
- Assist with delivery and transport of new or used equipment to customer locations
Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably working with small engines or similar equipment
- Skilled in the safe and effective use of tools, machinery, and diagnostic instruments
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality workmanship
- Professional communication and teamwork skills
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Friendly, reliable, and customer-focused attitude
- Experience with both mechanical and electrical systems (2 years preferred)
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
