What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior CAD Technician position at Allen Underground?
Allen Underground is seeking a Senior CAD Technician with experience in Subsurface Utility Exploration (SUE). This is a full-time CAD Technician position, and the CAD Tech duties include, but are not limited to, Platting, Boundary Analysis, ALTA/ACSM Surveys, Topographic Surveys, ROW Surveys, and Legal Descriptions. Also, the individual must be proficient with AutoCAD at a minimum. The individual will carry out assignments for the RPLS and Survey Project Managers with minimal supervision.
Role and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the design of CADD plan layouts and drafting requirements for any assigned project.
- Downloads and processes field data in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Draft Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Hydrographic Surveys, and other related surveys.
- Interprets and plots records, deeds, and plats for all types of property surveys.
- Operate the plotter, printer, scanner, and other necessary devices.
- Responsible for the record-keeping and documentation of project requirements
- Demonstrate focus on detail in making required modifications to drawings and finalizing technical drawings based on the Client's expectations.
- Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine the best approach.
- Attend meetings outside of the office.
- Analyze sketches, drawings, notes, and/or verbal information supplied by the engineer, surveyor, technician, or designer to determine the most appropriate views, detail drawings, and supplementary information needed to complete assignments.
- Receive, review, and return internal documents as requested on time, obtaining required authorizations to record billable hours and/or expenses for work performed.
- Help advance production efficiency using systems and process improvements, training, mentoring, and staff professional development.
- Downloads and processes field data in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Edit and finalize technical drawings, including required modifications and updates to drawings.
- Assisting in establishing CAD standards and utilizing these standards to minimize hours required to complete a task
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience with SUE
- Associate degree in drafting & design (Preferred)
- CST Certification (Preferred)
- Survey experience (Preferred)
- 1-3 years of Land Survey experience (Preferred)
- Exposure to, or entry-level proficiency in, specialty areas such as CADD, Cadastral, Platting, or other areas. (Preferred)

Physical Demands:
The CAD Technician must be able to concentrate for extended periods and pay close attention to detail. The work environment does require physical movement.
Availability:
This is a full-time position. The days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime and weekends as required.
