What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Management Director position at ALLEN PARISH HOSPITAL DISTRICT NO 3?
JOB FUNCTION:
Responsible for daily operations involved in the acquisition, receipt and distribution of goods and services for the hospital. Plans, organizes, and control systems and functions involved by utilizing available staff, equipment and financial resources as required by facility standards and regulatory agencies.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs annual evaluation on staff and ensures that evaluations are completed in a timely manner
- Effectively hires, promotes, disciplines and terminates subordinates as outlined in hospital policies
- Ensures the continuous and timely availability of services by providing for a sufficient number of appropriately qualified staff to care for patients
- Develops organization wide care programs, policies and procedures that describe how patient care needs are assessed, evaluated and met.
- Promotes integration of patient care services and facilitates interdisciplinary collaborations to provide quality care.
- Delegates authority and responsibility for department operations and monitors progress toward goal achievement
- Assists in developing and maintaining written job descriptions for personnel and assign duties based on education, training and competency
- Implements measures to meet and reduce FTE requirements
- Develops, presents and manages materials management services portion of the hospital’s budget
- Evaluates operating and financial performance and productivity in department and develop action plan to reduce variances
- Reviews department incident reports and takes appropriate action
- Identifies and communicates safety issues and maintains a safe working environment
- Maintains working knowledge of departments
- Regularly communicates appropriate information
- Participates in professional organizations and seeks opportunities for self-development
- Serves as a productive member of executive leadership team; communicates department issues appropriately
- Represents hospital externally and internally in a professional manner; markets services to physician, patients and community
- Participates with leaders from the governing body, management, medical staff and clinical area in the organization’s decision making structures and processes
- Works closely with HR and managers to assess personnel needs
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience is preferred
- Job Knowledge:
- Knowledge of inventory control and computer programs related to management of inventory
- Knowledge of inventory maintenance and contract pricing
- Skills:
- Ability to communicate with sales representatives, vendors, hospital staff, and administration
- Physical Demands:
This position may require walking, bending, stooping, squatting, lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods of time, and pushing loaded carts. This position requires good physical health, visual and auditory acuity, and the ability to speak, read and write English clearly and correctly. This position requires sound judgement when ordering supplies and filling order requisitions. This position may require working with or around chemicals.
Salary : $54,950 - $73,000
