Job Title: Business Development Manager
Reports To: Director of Business Development
Position Summary:
We are seeking a driven and relationship-focused Business Development Manager to support our nationally recognized, 60-bed nursing home in expanding occupancy from Plaza, Baylor and Walls Hospitals. This role is critical in strengthening referral partnerships, increasing community awareness, and driving sustainable census growth.
This position is structured with 50% of time spent in-house supporting admissions and internal processes, and 50% in the field building and maintaining external relationships to drive referrals.
Key Responsibilities:
In-House Responsibilities (50%):
- Provide regular updates on referral sources, admissions activity, and census trends
- Round on current admissions to ensure satisfaction and identify opportunities for retention and referrals
- Assist with and oversee admission paperwork to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Support NOMNCs (
- Notice of Medicare Non-Coverage) processes and communication with patients/families
- Collaborate closely with admissions, clinical, and administrative teams to ensure seamless transitions and positive patient experience
- Monitor and report on conversion rates, barriers to admission, and opportunities for improvement
External Responsibilities (50%):
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans to increase census.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, physicians, case managers, discharge planners, and community organizations
- Identify and cultivate new referral sources and partnership opportunities
- Conduct outreach visits, presentations, and networking activities within the healthcare community
- Represent the organization at community events and industry meetings
- Maintain awareness of market trends, competitors, and local healthcare dynamics
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Marketing, or related field preferred
- 2–5 years of experience in healthcare business development, admissions, or related field (skilled nursing/post-acute experience preferred)
- Proven ability to drive census growth and build referral pipelines
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage both internal processes and external relationships effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems
