Now Hiring: OSP Field Supervisor - Inspector
Location: Albuquerque, NM.
Type of Position: Full-Time, Salaried Exempt.
Per Diem: Yes, available for traveling employees.
Compensation: $70,000 annually.
Report To: Construction Manager.
Company Vehicle Provided: Yes, plus fuel card provided.

Job Overview:
The OSP (Outside Plant) Field Supervisor serves as the on-site lead for all construction activities, ensuring that work is performed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with project specifications, standards, and safety regulations. This role is critical in maintaining positive relationships with local communities—addressing concerns promptly and representing the company with professionalism and integrity.

The ideal candidate is a field-focused leader who thrives in dynamic environments and can balance the roles of inspector, investigator, and construction manager. They will oversee contractors, monitor quality and safety, manage budgets, and support operational excellence across all assigned work orders.
  • Oversee daily construction activities to ensure compliance with company standards, specifications, and safety procedures.
  • Conduct field inspections and walkouts for both aerial fiber installations (poles, splice points) and underground work (conduit, handholes).
  • Approve completed aerial work that meets quality and technical requirements.
  • Manage and maintain the OSP Construction Tracker for assigned projects.
  • Monitor project budgets and ensure all work orders remain within approved financial limits.
  • Respond to and document utility strikes within 24 hours; investigate root causes and coordinate retraining or corrective action as needed.
  • Perform weekly safety, quality, and construction audits for each contractor.
  • Identify contractor training needs and coordinate appropriate sessions.
  • Verify that contractors conduct regular tailgate and safety meetings, including multilingual sessions where appropriate.
  • Uphold company reputation by maintaining strong relationships with community members, contractors, and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED; 3–5 years of related experience in OSP construction, inspection, or quality control (or equivalent combination).
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license (cannot be provisional).
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
  • Successful completion of Motor Vehicles Record (MVR) check, which reviews the candidate's driving history, including any past violations, accidents, or suspensions, to ensure compliance with the Company's policy and legal driving requirements.
Physical Abilities and Working Conditions:
  • Routinely required to:
    • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform work on uneven surfaces.
    • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods.
    • Work in confined spaces and remote outdoor locations.
    • Work with arms above shoulder level.
    • Manual dexterity in hands, fingers, and arms for reaching, climbing, balancing, and using hand/power tools and controls.
    • Vision abilities must include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Must be capable of safely operating vehicles.
    • Regularly able to lift, carry or transport equipment and materials up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to move throughout the work environment as needed.
    • Must possess clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Additionally required to:
    • Operate a computer using a keyboard, mouse, and cell phone for documentation or communication.
