Position Summary:

The HVAC Plant Operations Supervisor at Isleta Resort and Casino is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of HVAC maintenance. This role ensures that the team is adequately staffed and motivated to achieve the resort's objectives. The supervisor leads troubleshooting and repair of heating, cooling, and distribution systems, manages system controls, interprets technical schematics, and coordinates with energy management to maintain optimal facility operations. All while promoting and exhibiting World Class Guest Service to all the Isleta Resort and Casino employees and guests.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Departmental Leadership:

•             Leads and supervises the troubleshooting team to repair building distribution systems, including low pressure steam distribution, heat exchangers, hot and cold deck systems, air handlers, and pneumatic and digital controls.

•             Responsible for the repair of commercial heating and cooling systems including combination units up to 100 tons capacity.

•             Assigns and schedules major component replacement work in conjunction with central energy management and control system operators with his team.

•             Monitors and adjusts system set points and output through remote computer connections to the building's programmable logic controls.

•             Reads and interprets blueprints and sketches; reads and interprets various gauges; performs related work as required for the team.

•             Must be knowledgeable with the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC),

•             Supervise, instruct, and/or leads skilled tradesperson; may perform quality control and inspection duties related to the trade, and performs related work as required.

•             Evaluates situations to determine appropriate action in regard to maintenance.

•             Troubleshoot and repair low-temperature equipment, including walk-in coolers, freezers, ice machines, and refrigeration units.

•             Troubleshoots and repairs package A/C units.

•             Schedules routine preventive maintenance for HVAC/R equipment, including belts, filters, and bearing lubrication.

•             Oversee, troubleshoot, and conduct repairs on low pressure boiler systems, chiller systems, and cooling towers, including the replacement or repair of motors and pumps.

•             Conduct daily inspections and fulfil work orders as per Facility Maintenance SOPs.

•             Properly uses and maintains equipment and supplies. 

•             Encourages ongoing evaluation of workplace safety and environmental practices.

•             Keep precise records of preventive maintenance.

•             Handle security alarm calls when required.

•             Complete paperwork for all tasks, recording daily time, progress, and duration as required by facility Maintenance SOPs.

•             Immediately responds to emergencies to ensure safety.

•             Occasionally prepare reports such as scope of work, work orders, bids, or equipment inventory.

•             Record activities and supply written documentation or communicate information to the HVAC Team.

•             Periodically conducts quality control and inspection activities pertaining to trade operations

•             Acquire comprehensive knowledge of safety procedures, workplace policies, necessary educational qualifications, and relevant state and local safety regulations. Attain proficiency in blueprint interpretation as well as familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC), Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC), National Fire Protection Association Codes (NFPA), Life Safety Code, and applicable local codes and practices related to the trade.

•             May drive a company vehicle on public roads to Isleta Pueblo properties or other destinations during shift.

•             Carries out additional tasks of comparable responsibility as required or assigned.

Personnel & Administrative Tasks:

•             Assign work orders and tasks in accordance with established maintenance standard operating procedures.

•             Oversee staff performance, conduct, and attendance for compliance with Isleta Resort and Casino policies. 

•             Administers disciplinary actions on behalf of management.

•             Schedules and plans calendars, communicate departmental and organizational goals and identify areas for improvement.

•             Conducts planning sessions and performance reviews for management.

Accountability and Supervision:

Administers supervisory employment actions and responsibilities, on behalf of management, in accordance with the Isleta Resort and Casino’s policies, SOPs, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience

•             High School Diploma or GED required

•             Must have four years paid experience as a licensed journeyman for the state of New Mexico in heating/refrigeration work, and/or a certificate of completion, of such a program from a post-high school vocational institute, which may substitute for (2) years; military, commercial, or industrial experience may substitute.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certification

•             State of New Mexico MM-3 and or NM JR License. An EPA Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification

•             Must be eligible for and maintain a Gaming License issued by the Pueblo of Isleta Gaming Regulatory Agency.

•             Candidates are required to pass a pre-employment drug test and background investigation.

•             Candidates must be flexible with their schedules and able to work different days, hours, and holidays as needed by the company.

•             Required to comply with all educational and certification standards set by Isleta Resort and Casino.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license. Should not have had a driver’s license revoked or suspended in the last three (3) years prior to the date of the Employment Application, acceptability will be determined by Risk Management. Driving records will be checked.

•             Applicants must not have had their driver’s license revoked or suspended within the three years prior to employment; eligibility will be determined by risk management. Driving records will be reviewed periodically to confirm ongoing compliance with these requirements. .

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•             Must be able to communicate in English, both in writing and verbally, in a clear, informative, and professional manner. Should be capable of conveying denials and addressing difficult guest situations appropriately.

•             Must be able to perform basic mathematics, including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

•             They must demonstrate strong customer service and interpersonal skills, along with integrity and respect for others.

•             Must consistently always demonstrate a positive attitude toward both internal and external guests.

•             You should have proficiency in computer operations and be capable of using Microsoft applications and software.

•             Strong critical and analytical thinking required.

•             Demonstrates the ability to receive guidance and constructive feedback effectively.

•             A flexible and variable schedule is required, including availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

•             Should demonstrate strong planning abilities and proactively provide strategic guidance to executive management to enhance organizational efficiency and profitability.

•             Must have knowledge of facility services such as electrical, HVAC, utilities, building maintenance, carpentry.

·                     Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license. •             Able to read, comprehend, and follow English instructions.

•             Must possess strong knowledge of the tools, materials, methods, and best practices used in landscape groundskeeping trades, as well as herbicide and pesticide application processes.

•             Ability to read, interpret, prepare, draft, and maintain all records and documents, including prints, blueprints, and as-built documents required for the trade.

•             Able to operate all types of equipment, manual tools, power tools, and high-lift machinery (electric or combustion engine).

•             Must possess the ability to read, comprehend, adhere to, and enforce safety procedures.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

•             Must be able to navigate up and down stairs, ladders, crawl spaces, catwalks and uneven surfaces both in and outdoors.

•             Must be able to climb ladders and may require to work at heights 30 feet from the floor’s surface.

•             Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

•             Must be able to lift objects up to 100 - 200 pounds with assistance.

•             Must be able to lift, move and place 50 pounds with assistance.

•             Must be able to push and/or pull 50 pounds.

•             Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions particular to this region.

•             Must be able to work in small, confined areas.

•             Smoke filled environment.

•             Work is generally performed in, both, an indoor and outdoor Casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a high noise level. Possible expose to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazards, Blood Borne Pathogens, dirt, dust, fumes, and/or unpleasant odors.

•             May involve exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

•             May occasionally deal with angry or hostile individuals.

•             May be required to work weekends and special events
