The Opportunity
A leading New England electrical contractor is looking to appoint a Chief Estimator as part of a planned succession strategy within its estimating department.
This is a senior, long-term opportunity with a contractor generating approximately $180M annually, employing 400 people and backed by a strong $300M project backlog.
The company delivers some of the region's most significant commercial, utility and transportation electrical projects, ranging from $1M–$10M programs through to major specialist projects exceeding $70M and $100M .
The ideal candidate will bring estimating experience across commercial electrical construction, utility and transportation. However, candidates with a particularly strong commercial electrical estimating background will also be seriously considered.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the electrical estimating function.
- Manage estimating strategy across major commercial, utility and transportation opportunities.
- Review estimates, scopes, take-offs, pricing and bid submissions.
- Lead preconstruction and estimating activity on complex electrical projects.
- Work closely with senior leadership, operations and project teams.
- Develop relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and vendors.
- Mentor and develop estimators within the business.
- Support bid strategy, risk assessment and project selection.
- Help position the business for continued growth across New England.
- Work alongside the existing Chief Estimator as part of a structured succession plan.
Experience Required
- Significant estimating experience with an electrical contractor.
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction, estimating and preconstruction.
- Experience estimating sizeable and technically complex electrical projects.
- Commercial electrical experience is highly desirable.
- Utility and/or transportation electrical experience would be a major advantage.
- Previous leadership experience within an estimating department.
- Strong understanding of labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor pricing and project risk.
- Ability to manage multiple major bids and estimating teams.
