Minimum Requirements
- A Registered Nursing Degree/Diploma from an accredited college or university AND a minimum of three (3) years of skilled nursing experience as a supervisor in a Long-Term Care (LTC) facility.
- Applicants must have a current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the practicing state prior to appointment.
- Must have current CPR certification at the time of hire.
- Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary; will be on call 24 hours seven (7) days a week.

Overview
Duties:
- Plans, supervises, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs the Nursing Department, as well as its programs and activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facilities.
- Participates in daily or weekly management team meetings to discuss census changes, resident changes in status, and complaints or concerns.
- Participates in the recruitment, hiring, and termination of nursing personnel.
- Evaluates work performance of all nursing personnel and implements discipline according to operational policies; oversees nursing schedules to ensure resident needs and regulatory and budget standards are met.
- Performs daily rounds to observe residents and ensure nursing needs are being met; may provide direct nursing care as necessary.
- Participates in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) or facility assessment activities, i.e., carrying out duties assigned as part of a performance improvement committee as required.
- Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team, physicians, consultants, and community agencies to identify and resolve issues and improve the quality of services.
- Conducts observations of nursing care and supervises the development of in-service education to ensure the nursing staff are competent in current knowledge and skills.
- Monitors, assists, and implements the infection control program in accordance with current infection control guidelines to prevent the development and transmission of disease and infection.
- Assists in the preparation of inspection surveys, staff in-service training on survey processes, and participation in mock surveys; implements follow-up required to rectify to any inspection violations.
- Oversees resident incidents and concerns daily to identify any unusual occurrences and reports them promptly to the Administrator and/or state agency for appropriate action; protects residents from abuse and cooperates with all investigations.
- Acts in an administrative capacity in the absence of the Administrator.

- Communicate with medical and nursing staff as well as other departments.
- Work with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within a long-term care facility.
- Plan, organize, direct, control, coordinate, and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of care and treatment provided by both professional nursing staff and direct care staff in all resident areas.
- Ensure delivery of compassionate quality care and nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate staff coverage on the units, general cleanliness, and maintaining optimal resident functions.
- Promote safe work practices, safety rules, and accident prevention procedures to prevent employee injury and illness.
- Meet general health requirements according to facility policy, including medical and physical exams and checking immunity status to various infectious diseases.
- Assist in evacuating residents during emergency situations.
- Work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays as necessary. On call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
