Duties
- Prepare and submit medical claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring adherence to coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications. Previous billing experience with eCW in Pediatrics will be a plus.
- Review medical records to verify the accuracy of diagnoses, procedures, and coding details for billing purposes.
- Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims by contacting insurance companies or patients to resolve discrepancies and expedite payments.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of billing activities, including claim submissions, adjustments, denials, and collections.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure proper documentation and coding practices are followed for all patient encounters.
- Stay current with industry regulations and updates related to ICD coding, CPT coding, medical billing procedures, and insurance policies.
- Assist in resolving billing inquiries from patients and insurance providers promptly and professionally.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing with knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology.
- Strong understanding of EMR systems and EHR platforms used for billing processes. eCW ( e Clincal Works ).
- Experience with medical collection procedures and resolving claim denials efficiently.
- Familiarity with medical records management and accurate documentation practices.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex information quickly.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients.
- Prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate.
