CDL Driver - Essex

CDL DRIVER

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused CDL Driver for our Essex location. Our drivers play a critical role in providing reliable waste collection and disposal services that keep our communities clean and sustainable. As a driver, you will operate heavy trucks in a safe and efficient manner, follow established routes or service requests, and deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance. Regular hours may vary depending on the driving position.

Positions and shifts available:

• Commercial & Residential routes are available Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays during holiday weeks. Start times vary between 3:00 am and 5:00 am, depending on the route assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and document both on a Vehicle Inspection Report.
• Safely operate a heavy-duty truck with a GVW of up to 67,400 pounds in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws and guidelines.
• Complete all daily paperwork necessary to track and bill loads hauled.
• Operate an on-board computer to track stops and time throughout the day.
• Assist in the maintenance of the vehicle by monitoring all vehicle systems and always keeping both the interior and exterior as clean as possible.
• Reporting any vehicle malfunctions immediately to Dispatch, Maintenance, or a Supervisor.
• Follow the routing and directions for completing assignments given by Dispatchers.
• Reporting any damage done to property or vehicle immediately when it occurs to Dispatch.
• Empty containers and any other types of loads that may be hauled on the vehicle. Disposal of material shall take place at the properly identified location. This will involve lifting, pushing, and pulling material
• Operating hydraulics within the cab of the vehicle. Training will be provided on vehicle operation and the route that you will be assigned to.
• This is a year-round position working in all weather conditions. Training in proper vehicle operation and the route itself will be provided.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Be able to work a Monday through Friday work week with occasional Saturdays during holiday weeks. Regular hours may vary depending on the position.
• Have a CT CDL-B or A license with a satisfactory driving/Motor Vehicle record.
• Have a valid DOT medical card.
• Applicants must be able to successfully pass a DOT, physical agility exam, and pre-employment drug test.
• Applicants must be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and push-pull up to 200 lbs.
