We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join our accounting and finance team. This is an exempt position and reports to the Assistant Controller for the Materials Division.
Critical job functions
- Track expenses related to labor, materials, subcontractors, and other costs for each location
- Collection, review, and entry of daily production from operations
- Review intra-company inventory movements including proper transfer pricing
- Collect monthly energy readings from Plant Managers for monthly accrual posting
- Regular analysis of inventory reports by locations, highlighting variances & adjustments
- Prepare cost-related reports for management
- Assisting with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Assist in scheduling inventory flyovers and readings, reconcile with perpetual inventory
- Contribute to accurate financial statements and external audit support
- Assist in monthly review of productions with the division and site leadership
- Assist in analyzing and establishing standard costs for produced materials
- Regularly review and update cost standards
- 10-15% travel required, based out of West Springfield office
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 3–5 years of general accounting experience, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and billing.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles; experience in the HMA (Hot Mix Asphalt) and aggregate industries preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Viewpoint Vista ERP software is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, curious, and able to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Salary : $67,000 - $87,000
