Job Overview

Position Summary

The Warehouse Inventory Control Associate is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory throughout the warehouse while supporting receiving, shipping, cycle counting, replenishment, and inventory reconciliation processes. This position plays a critical role in ensuring inventory accuracy, minimizing discrepancies, and supporting operational efficiency to meet customer expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy within the warehouse management system (WMS/ERP).
  • Verify product locations, quantities, and labeling accuracy.
  • Research inventory adjustments and identify root causes.
  • Process inventory transfers between warehouse locations.
  • Monitor damaged, obsolete, and non-conforming inventory.
  • Support receiving by verifying inbound shipments and inventory transactions.
  • Support shipping by confirming order accuracy prior to shipment.
  • Conduct bin audits and location optimization.
  • Maintain inventory records and documentation.
  • Assist with annual physical inventories.
  • Generate inventory reports and communicate findings to leadership.
  • Maintain proper FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices where applicable.
  • Work closely with Purchasing, Customer Service, and Warehouse Operations to resolve inventory issues.
  • Follow all OSHA and company safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment using 5S principles.
  • Crosstrain in receiving, shipping, and warehouse operations as needed.
  • Perform additional duties assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of warehouse or inventory control experience preferred.
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP software (P21 experience preferred).
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and inventory software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Inventory Control certification or APICS knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with barcode scanning systems.
  • Forklift certification (or willingness to become certified).
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Experience working in industrial distribution or fastener manufacturing.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and climbing.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and material handling equipment safely.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures.
