Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Winding Room Technician to support filament winding and parts production.
This role is critical to ensuring high-quality manufacturing of composite components through precise machine operation, material handling, and adherence to process standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and monitor filament winding machines and related equipment
- Prepare mandrels, fibers, and resin systems according to work instructions
- Perform pattern programming and adjustments (if applicable)
- Ensure proper tension, alignment, and material placement during winding
- Conduct in-process inspections to verify product quality and specifications
- Maintain accurate production and quality records
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and cleaning
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies
- Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve processes
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training preferred
- Previous experience in composite materials, filament winding, or manufacturing is a plus
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to read technical drawings/work instructions
- Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Comfortable working with composites, resins, fibers, and industrial equipment
- Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interface
- Submission to a criminal background check
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with CNC or automated winding equipment
- Knowledge of differing materials. (Composites, resins, fibers, etc)
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
