Job Summary:
The Assistant Buyer works in coordination with the CEO, Buyer, Logistics, Sales, FSQA, and Operations teams to coordinate and facilitate the flow of raw materials, packaging materials, and general supplies from purchase to receipt to align it with the production schedule and forecasted material needs. Responsible for ensuring the continuity of raw, packaging materials, and related supplies to production facilities as Purchasing’s front-line representative to operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Place Purchase Orders and support replenishment strategies for assigned materials
- Track material deliveries and work with suppliers to resolve delivery issues in conjunction with expediting as needed to support manufacturing operations
- Follow up delivery dates and changes and communicate out to Production, Blends, Sales, Customer Service, Logistics, and other impacted departments
- Coordinate physical inventories and daily cycle counts to continuously confirm inventory data accuracy to support replenishment cycles
- Communicate regularly and thoroughly with the Finance team on planning purchases to support the CEO and Buyer
- Review actual and forecast customer demand to ensure the schedule is aligned to meet customer delivery requirements on raw materials
- Utilize ERP system to improve planning and scheduling process efficiency
- Analyze areas for cost savings and inventory reduction and ways to implement areas of best practices
- Contribute to building and maintaining positive vendor relationships
- Provide general purchasing administrative support to the CEO including preparing reports on purchasing and inventory levels

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities -
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of inventory management systems and software
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes
- Familiarity with budgeting and financial analysis
Experience, Education, and Training -
- High school diploma or GED required
- Some college study strongly preferred
- 3 years experience in material planning, procurement, or supply chain in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred
