Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Cabinet Maker with a focus on working with Formica laminate and detailed trim work. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in the construction and installation of custom cabinetry, with an eye for precision and a strong attention to detail. You will be responsible for crafting high-quality cabinets, ensuring flawless finishes, and executing intricate trim work to meet client specifications and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cabinet Fabrication: Design, build, and assemble custom cabinets for residential and commercial projects using Formica laminate, plywood, MDF, and other materials.
- Formica Application: Apply Formica laminate to surfaces, ensuring smooth, bubble-free adhesion and accurate trim details.
- Trim Work: Install and finish detailed trim elements (molding, corner pieces, edging) to provide a polished, professional look to each cabinet and installation.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret architectural drawings and blueprints to ensure cabinets meet design specifications.
- Tool Operation: Utilize woodworking machinery and hand tools such as table saws, routers, sanders, and drills to cut, shape, and finish materials.
- Quality Control: Ensure that all pieces meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and safety.
- Client Interaction: Collaborate with designers, contractors, and clients to meet project requirements, providing expert advice when necessary.
- Installation: Install finished cabinetry and trim on-site, ensuring proper alignment, level installation, and secure mounting.
- Project Management: Oversee project timelines, ensuring timely completion of custom cabinetry and trim installations.
- Maintenance & Safety: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, follow safety guidelines, and regularly inspect tools and equipment for proper functioning.
Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in cabinet making, with a focus on working with Formica and detailed trim work.
- Skills:
- Strong woodworking and carpentry skills.
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools for cabinetry.
- Expertise in applying Formica laminate to various surfaces.
- Precision in detailed trim work, including molding, edge banding, and finish carpentry.
- Ability to work from blueprints, drawings, and design specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and high-quality finish.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in both shop and on-site environments.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in carpentry or cabinet making is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with clients, team members, and management.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to overcome project challenges and ensure client satisfaction.
