What are the responsibilities and job description for the Garage Door Technician (1099) position at All Point Garage Doors?
All Point Garage Doors sends garage door service calls to independent technicians through an app. You are your own boss: you see the jobs near you, claim the ones you want, and do the work. We find the customer, book the visit and handle the phone, the scheduling and the invoicing.
WORK YOU WOULD SEE
Home repairs and installs: springs, cables, rollers, tracks, sensors, openers, tune-ups and doors.
HOW YOU ARE PAID
You are a 1099 independent contractor, paid per job you complete. You're paid per job: repairs and installs average $100-180 to you, with parts reimbursed at cost on top. Techs running 3 jobs a day can earn $1,500 a week. Pay goes out every Sunday night for the week before. There is no guarantee of how many jobs are available in your area at any time.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED, WE TRAIN HANDY PEOPLE
Experienced garage door techs are who we want first. If you are handy (handyman, HVAC or appliance helper, auto, electrical helper) and want to learn doors, tell us in the application. We will tell you honestly where you would start. We do not send anyone onto a torsion spring they have not been shown how to do safely.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR
- Your own truck or van and your own tools preferred (winding bars, drill, voltmeter, 8-ft ladder)
- General liability insurance before your first paid job. Not sure how to get it? We point you to carriers.
- Comfortable lifting about 50 lbs and working on a ladder
- A smartphone (iPhone or Android)
- Willing to consent to a background check, since you will be in customers' homes
WHAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO
You do not answer the phone, book appointments or chase payment. The customer approves the price on their phone before you start.
HOW HIRING WORKS
Apply (about 2 minutes), then a short call, then in-app setup (photo, vehicle, tools, insurance). Once approved, jobs in your area reach your phone.
This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement, not employment. Nothing in this posting guarantees job volume or earnings.
