What are the responsibilities and job description for the Garage Door Technician (1099) position at All Point Garage Doors?
Garage Door Technician. 1099 independent contractor. Philadelphia area.
All Point Garage Doors dispatches service calls through an app. Jobs show up on your phone: spring replacements, openers, track and panel repairs, tune-ups. You claim the ones you want. You don't chase leads and you don't sell yourself.
Pay
- You're paid per job: repairs and installs average $100-180 to you, with parts reimbursed at cost on top. Techs running 3 jobs a day can earn $1,500 a week. No guaranteed job volume.
- You start at 30% of each job you complete, and move up to 35% and 40% based on your ratings and performance.
- Paid weekly, every Sunday night.
Experience preferred, we train handy people
- Garage door experience (torsion and extension springs, openers, track, panels) is a plus.
- Handyman, HVAC, appliance, auto or electrical helper? Apply anyway. Nobody goes on a spring job before being shown how to do it safely.
You need
- Your own vehicle and tools (winding bars, drill, voltmeter, 8-ft ladder).
- General liability insurance ($1M) before your first job. Apply anyway, we'll help you get covered.
- A background check.
- A smartphone (iPhone or Android).
- Pennsylvania: your own PA Home Improvement Contractor registration ($100 for 2 years, no exam). We'll walk you through it.
How it works
Apply, then a short call with the owner, then background check, insurance verification and our training academy before real jobs. You present options to customers honestly through the app. No pressure tactics, no fake urgency.
Apply here or at allpointgarage.com/tech-application (about 5 minutes, resume optional).
