Responsibilities
- Assist with processing medical claims using billing software and Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
- Review patient records to ensure accurate documentation of diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding.
- Verify insurance coverage and submit healthcare claims to health insurance providers
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection efforts and appeals
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations
- Support the billing team by updating patient information in EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
- Provide excellent customer service by answering inquiries related to billing statements and insurance processes
Qualifications
- Basic understanding of medical terminology, medical records, and healthcare claims management
- Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), CPT coding.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications and billing software platforms
- Knowledge of health insurance policies, medical billing procedures, and medical collections
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or with EMR/EHR systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive patient information confidentially
- Excellent communication skills with a customer service-oriented mindset
