Learn more about the Job:
The Technical Assistance Specialist provides consultation, coaching, process facilitation, case management, and support to counties and child abuse prevention organizations and networks throughout California. The Specialist collaborates with local and state-wide organizations to plan and develop integrated county-wide prevention networks that reduce child abuse and neglect and increase protective factors. This position requires travel throughout California.
Job Responsibilities
1. (75%) Technical Assistance
- Provide TA to child abuse prevention orgs. and networks throughout California including, but not limited to: needs assessments, strategic and action planning, meeting facilitation, partnership development, leadership coaching, outcomes tracking, training, and follow-up support.
- Provide consultation to support county teams in implementing their Comprehensive Prevention Plans and building strong local networks to meet the goals of the plans.
- Develop custom tools and templates to advance county-wide prevention plan implementation.
- Prepare qualitative and quantitative reports and social media content to share outcomes and lessons learned with other organizations.
- Communicate with staff, partners, and others to assess opportunities for improvement and contribute to the ongoing quality improvement process.
- Effectively coordinate and facilitate meetings and trainings.
2. (10%) Learning Exchanges/Communities of Practice/Knowledge Sharing
- Facilitate topic-based communities of practice in person and via webinar (Zoom).
- Prepare documentation, social media posts, and website content to spotlight county efforts and share resources with family strengthening organizations throughout the state.
- Provide on-boarding support and routine coaching/shadowing to peers and other Strategies TA staff to help build their capacity as new team members.
3. (10%) Internal/External Collaboration
- Attend meetings, conferences, and events to build relationships with subject-matter experts, family strengthening agencies, and community-based organizations.
- Prepare presentations and brief other TA Specialists and OCAP staff on specific project and network-building activities, best practices, tools, and templates that may be useful across multiple projects.
- Provide leadership and planning/training support to Children's Bureau staff around diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). Stay up to date on new books, articles and other media on the subject and share knowledge both internally and externally with partners.
4. (5%) Other Duties
- Acquire and enhance knowledge of existing, new, and emerging trends through research, conferences, and participation on committees, as appropriate.
- Assist with special projects including, but not limited to, preparation and facilitation for summits, regional gatherings, and other in-person or virtual events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
General Knowledge
- Knowledge of organizational development, collaboration/networking, trauma-informed practice, cultural proficiency, and strategies for building community resilience.
- Knowledge of child abuse prevention field, family strengthening, parent education, social services and/or child welfare services required.
Job Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Organizational/Community Development, Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, or related field from a four-year college or university required.
- Experience coaching and/or collaborating with local and statewide family strengthening organizations/departments.
- Experience with and/or knowledge of child abuse prevention strategies, cross-sector collaboration, collective impact, family strengthening, and the child welfare system.
- Advanced knowledge of Trauma Informed Care; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI); and Protective Factors concepts required.
Salary : $73,500
