Brief Description
The R&D Technician will support research and development activities to improve or create new products, processes, and technologies. The R&D technician will work closely with engineers to support testing, analysis, and writing reports for processes and new materials. This will largely be a hands-on role that will require building prototypes and test specimens, providing input to develop standard test methods, and documenting test variables and results. The R&D technician will collaborate with subject matter experts from different areas of the organization.

Essential Job Duties
- Assist in the design and hands-on execution of processes and material tests.
- Prepare samples, materials, and prototypes according to established procedures.
- Collect, record, and assist with analyzing test data accurately.
- Document procedures, results, observations, and any deviations or anomalies.
- Assist with data analysis and writing test reports.
- Update formalized test methods.
- Work closely with Engineers and Operators from across the organization.
- Create test and process instructions that emphasize photos and videos in place of written words.
- Infrequent travel to other AFS factories is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education
- Technical degree or significant relevant experience.
- 1-5 years experience.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Effective technical writing skills.
