Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting day-to-day HR operations and providing comprehensive human resources support across the organization. This role focuses on employee relations, benefits administration, employment law compliance, performance management, new hire onboarding, and HR policy implementation while promoting a positive, inclusive, and productive workplace culture. Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, benefits, and workplace practices
  • Assist with resolving employee relations issues, workplace concerns, and conflicts in a professional, timely, and confidential manner
  • Support employee engagement, retention, recognition, and workplace culture initiatives
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment
  • Provide guidance to employees and managers regarding HR procedures and company policies

Onboarding & Employee Support:

  • Coordinate new hire onboarding, orientation, and employee integration processes
  • Maintain employee personnel files, records, and HR documentation within ADP Workforce Now
  • Ensure timely completion of required onboarding paperwork, employment forms, and compliance documentation
  • Support employee lifecycle activities, including transfers, promotions, status changes, and offboarding
  • Maintain accurate employee data within the organization’s Human Resources Information System (HRIS)

Benefits & Payroll Support:

  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment, qualifying life event changes, eligibility questions, and benefit-related inquiries
  • Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate employee information, timekeeping records, deductions, and system updates within ADP
  • Support payroll administration by reviewing employee data and resolving discrepancies
  • Support leave administration, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers’ compensation, and other applicable leave programs
  • Maintain confidential documentation related to employee benefits, payroll, and leave requests

Compliance & HR Administration:

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and HR requirements
  • Maintain accurate HR records, reports, personnel files, and employee data within HRIS systems
  • Generate HR reports, analyze workforce data, and support internal and external audits using ADP Workforce Now
  • Assist with HR policy development, implementation, communication, and employee handbook updates
  • Support compliance with recordkeeping, reporting, and document-retention requirements
  • Help ensure consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and workplace standards

Performance Management & Training:

  • Assist managers with performance management, performance review processes, coaching documentation, and employee development planning
  • Coordinate employee training, orientation, and professional development programs
  • Track required certifications, employee training, continuing education, and compliance requirements
  • Support managers with employee performance documentation and corrective action processes
  • Assist with identifying training needs and coordinating learning and development initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Two to five years of progressive human resources experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience using ADP Workforce Now required
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience supporting employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, compliance, and performance management
  • Familiarity with FMLA, ADA, workers’ compensation, and employee leave administration
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, documentation, problem-solving, and time-management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information professionally
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Professional HR certification, such as SHRM-CP or PHR, is a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and use office equipment for extended periods
  • Ability to perform repetitive computer and administrative tasks
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds may be required

Work Environment:

  • Professional office work environment based on organizational needs
  • Standard business hours with occasional additional hours as needed
  • Regular interaction with employees, managers, payroll representatives, and benefit providers
