Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort.
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates; accurately document findings using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper procedures are followed according to HIPAA and aseptic techniques.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other memory impairments, including engaging in therapeutic activities.
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices to safely transfer patients with mobility challenges.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to observe changes in patient condition and communicate concerns promptly for critical care or emergency situations.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and proper medical documentation standards.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare settings such as hospitals (including ICU, emergency medicine, trauma centers), long-term care facilities (nursing homes, assisted living), or home & community care environments.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS).
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks; experience with EHR systems is a plus.
- Ability to perform vital sign measurements accurately and demonstrate proficiency in infection control practices including aseptic technique.
- Compassionate caregiving skills with experience supporting individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in fast-paced settings like urgent care or outpatient clinics.
