Position Overview
We are seeking vigilant, reliable, and assertive Alcohol Monitors and Compliance Staff to ensure a safe, fun, and legally compliant experience at the Clark County Fair in Ridgefield, WA. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining an enjoyable environment for all attendees, vendors, and staff.
Please Note: This role does not require a security guard card. Instead, we need highly observant individuals who hold a valid MAST permit and possess the physical stamina to stand in a single, designated spot for long periods of time. You must be comfortable remaining at a fixed post and possess the confidence to firmly, politely approach and redirect patrons who attempt to consume alcohol outside of permitted areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Stationary Boundary Enforcement: Remain stationed at a fixed post, beer garden exit, or designated boundary line to strictly monitor alcohol consumption and ensure compliance with Washington State liquor laws.
- Active Post Monitoring: Maintain a constant, alert presence in your assigned area—standing at your designated spot to monitor crowd behavior and prevent unpermitted drinks from crossing boundaries.
- Confident Rule Enforcement: Boldly and professionally approach, redirect, and instruct patrons to stop drinking or turn back if they attempt to take alcohol outside of permitted zones.
- Access Control: Monitor entry and exit points at stationary alcohol consumption areas to prevent underage entry and ensure no outside alcohol enters the space.
- Team Communication & Reporting: Maintain a high level of professionalism from your post, document unusual occurrences, and promptly radio or report any major disturbances or uncooperative patrons to management or onsite security.
Requirements
- Licensing (Mandatory): Must possess a current and active Washington MAST Permit (Mandatory Alcohol Server Training—Class 12 or 13). No Guard Card required.
- Physical Stamina (Critical): Must be physically capable of standing in a single, fixed location and maintaining an alert presence for extended periods (8–12 hour shifts) in an outdoor fair environment.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in hospitality, event operations, crowd management, customer service, or a related public-facing field.
- Core Competencies: Exceptionally observant, alert, and possess the confidence to firmly but politely enforce rules with the public without shrinking back.
- Availability: Must commit to completely open availability for the full duration of the 10-day fair contract (including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and late nights).
Schedule & Logistics
- Shift Length: 8 to 12 hours per shift (primarily standing at a fixed post).
- Shift Availability: Day, Evening, Night, and Overnight shifts are available. Weekends.
- Morning or Swing 1730-2130, 1230-2130 and 12:30 -2230
