Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account analysis, and account reconciliation to ensure all financial data aligns with GAAP standards.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation regularly to verify the integrity of financial information.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining detailed transaction records.
- Prepare and review financial reports, including bank reconciliations, budget reports, and other financial statements to support management decision-making.
- Process payroll accurately using relevant payroll software, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and company policies.
- Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and other financial tools to record transactions efficiently.
- Assist with governmental accounting tasks and tax experience to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct account analysis and support technical accounting functions related to governmental or nonprofit organizations.
- Support audit preparations by organizing documentation related to financial concepts like debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and journal entries.
- Contribute to budgeting activities by analyzing expenses and revenue streams for accuracy and forecasting purposes.
Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Quicken, and other relevant financial tools.
- Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), governmental accounting standards, and nonprofit accounting practices.
- Expertise in bank reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation.
- Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable processes along with tax experience related to payroll and other financial obligations.
- Ability to perform detailed account analysis using 10 key typing skills for efficient data entry.
- Familiarity with technical accounting concepts such as journal entries, double entry bookkeeping, and financial report writing.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate bookkeeping and recordkeeping.
- Strong communication skills to clearly explain financial concepts and collaborate across teams effectively.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new software updates or changes in regulatory requirements related to governmental or nonprofit organizations.
