Laundry Aide

Basic Function

To handle and process laundry using proper policies and procedures.

Essential Duties

• Label laundry per the facility procedures.
• Numbers and dates incoming resident lifting equipment slings and restraints.
• Sorts, washes, dry, folds and handles laundry using proper procedures.
• Rinses soiled linen before washing if needed.
• Eliminates crossing of soiled and clean linen.
• Loads washers and dryers at proper weight.
• Stocks linen areas per guidelines.
• Maintains a clean work and storage area.
• Picks up and delivers linens to units per schedule.
• Labels all compounds and chemicals properly and stores them in locked storage areas.
• Follows user directions for all compounds and chemicals.
• Uses proper body mechanics.
• Follows proper infection control practices.
• Follows procedure for disposal of worn or obsolete equipment.
• Observes for resident safety when in resident care areas.
• Maintains fire aisles when picking up and delivering laundry.
• Adheres to all facility and department safety policies and procedures.
  
  
  

Supervision Received

Receives supervision from Laundry Supervisor.

Qualifications

• No convictions for abuse, neglect, or mistreatment or for misappropriation of property.
• Prompt and regular attendance.
  
  
  

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Ability to read, write and make simple calculations and follow oral and written directions.
• Knowledge of principles and requirements of sanitation and safety in handling laundry and equipment
