Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor residents’ health status by observing patient behavior, recording vital signs, and reporting any changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen area.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident rooms and common areas regularly.
- Engage residents in social activities and provide companionship to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR, First Aid, and emergency procedures to ensure resident safety at all times.
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, dementia (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), or other neurodevelopmental disorders is highly preferred.
- Experience in group home settings, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is advantageous.
- Knowledge of care plans, patient monitoring techniques, medication administration, and HIPAA compliance is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient observation accurately and respond effectively to changing needs.
- Familiarity with manual handling equipment such as Hoyer lifts and experience assisting with ADLs is desirable.
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, residents, and families while providing compassionate support.
