POSITION TITLE: Junior Accountant
REPORTS TO: VP of Finance
DEPARTMENT: Accounting
Position Summary:
The Junior Accountant is an entry-level member of the Accounting team responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting activities and maintaining accurate financial records. This position will assist with accounts payable, account reconciliations, general ledger activities, month-end processes, and other accounting functions as assigned.
This role is designed for a recent graduate or individual early in their accounting career who is looking to develop practical accounting experience and grow their knowledge within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with accounts payable, including invoice processing, payment preparation, and vendor account maintenance.
- Assist with general ledger entries and routine account reconciliations.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Review accounting records and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Research and assist in resolving basic accounting discrepancies.
- Assist with maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Prepare basic accounting reports and schedules as requested.
- Assist with bank and other balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support inventory and cost accounting activities as assigned.
- Assist with internal and external audit requests by gathering supporting documentation.
- Work with other departments to obtain information needed to process and record financial transactions.
- Maintain organized accounting files and records in accordance with company procedures.
- Learn and utilize the company's ERP and accounting systems.
- Provide general support to the Accounting team and take on additional accounting responsibilities as knowledge and experience develop.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of accounting principles.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability and willingness to learn ERP and accounting systems.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop within the accounting field.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Entry-level position; prior professional accounting experience is not required.
- Internship, co-op, or other relevant accounting experience is preferred but not required.
- Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
Other Details:
- Work Environment: Office-based environment with occasional visits to the manufacturing floor or other company locations as necessary.
- Physical Demands: Primarily sedentary work; occasional standing, walking, and lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for extended hours or weekends as needed to support company operations.
