Position Overview
The Director of Operations, working collaboratively with a Market Medical Director and Vice President of Operations, is responsible for the operational performance, client account management, and overall oversight of hospital-based physician programs within an assigned geographic region. This individual maintains a strong presence at partner hospitals, builds collaborative relationships with hospital leadership and community physicians, and serves as the primary point of contact for operational performance and contract management.
Key Responsibilities
Build, develop, and maintain strong operational relationships with hospital partners and community physician practices.
Support the successful implementation of new physician programs.
Establish performance goals with hospital leadership and physician partners and ensure operational objectives are achieved.
Conduct regular client touchpoints, quarterly business reviews, and annual onsite presentations.
Partner with Recruiting, Credentialing, Scheduling, HR, and Clinical Leadership to ensure program success.
Oversee hospital agreements, fee structures, and operational performance.
Support physician interviews and onboarding as needed.
Assist with policy implementation, compliance initiatives, and operational best practices.
Maintain relationships with community physicians and address operational concerns.
Respond to hospital billing and invoice-related questions.
Identify opportunities to improve operational performance and expand services.
Develop proposals and financial analyses for new business opportunities and program growth.
Understand financial performance, pricing, and operational impacts of program changes.
Lead contract renewal negotiations.
Partner with Business Development on growth initiatives within the assigned territory.
Coordinate marketing initiatives with hospital partners when appropriate.
Evaluate industry trends and recommend operational improvements.
Participate in special projects and represent the organization as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Master's degree preferred.
3–5 years of progressive healthcare operations leadership experience.
Strong analytical, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Experience interacting with hospital executives, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
Physician practice management.
Women's health or obstetrics experience.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Understanding of medical terminology.
Travel
Moderate to extensive travel to client locations is required.
