Role summary
This part-time position is ideal for mid to senior-level Tax professionals to join the Global Indirect Tax team as a Indirect Tax (Advisory) Sr. Manager, supporting North America. Partnering with strategic commercial, supply chain, finance and IT stakeholders, you will leverage your Indirect Tax expertise to support the company commercial initiatives in the US and Canada. You will oversee the Indirect Tax controversy and will be required to identify Indirect Tax legislative changes and assess and provide guidance on the implications of such changes to the company. The scope includes (but is not limited to): Sales/Use Tax, Business Licenses, Property Tax, Gross Receipt, Commercial Activity Tax, Excise tax and GST/PST/ HST.

Functional Responsibilities
Monitor Indirect tax policy developments in the US and Canada. Identify and assess the potential impact of indirect tax legislative changes and trends; provide updates and recommend direction to the business and the Senior Director - Global Indirect Tax; guide the relevant stakeholders on the implementation of the changes
As a subject matter expert, you will leverage your unique knowledge to advance the company’s commercial objectives by identifying the Indirect Tax implications of new products/transaction flows, commercial offerings and guiding the relevant business stakeholders to ensure an optimum Indirect Tax outcome for the company. Research Indirect Tax issues and recommend appropriate tax treatment
Review company adherence of all Indirect Tax requirements and policies. Establish and drive projects to improve compliance where needed. Perform reverse audits in applicable tax sensitive areas and implement compliance controls.
Identify planning opportunities and available tax incentives
Educate and mentor relevant business stakeholders (Supply Chain, Finance, SSC) and other Indirect Tax team members on Indirect Tax rules in order to enhance compliance and optimize Align’s Indirect Tax positions (Cash flow and P&L)
Manage Indirect Tax audits and respond promptly to Indirect Tax notices for the US and Canada with the support of our Indirect Tax Compliance team.

- Maintain the Indirect Tax matrix for US and Canada
- Support the Indirect Tax Compliance team with your US and Canada Indirect Tax expertise
- Partner and influence relevant internal (supply chain, IT, Accounting, BPO) and external (statutory auditors, consultants) stakeholders in order to carry out your above functional responsibilities.
- A Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in law, accounting or economics
- A post-graduate professional certification in Indirect Tax preferred
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience. Ideally a combination of in-house and big 4 consulting.
- Basic understanding of other finance compliance activities, such as statutory accounting and corporate tax compliance
