Position Summary: Manages multiple distribution functions including supply chain, logistics planning, distribution center operations, and traffic. Ensures sourcing efforts meet business goals and objectives. Responsible for an integrated flow of materials and services from initial sourcing through production planning and scheduling, as the beginning of a supply chain management business focus Works with functional leaders to perform analysis and identify areas for performance improvement. Manages and supports implementation of strategic initiatives. Manages activities related to global sourcing, supplier selection, product delivery specifications, and quality. Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures, and material control systems to reduce costs, streamline procedures, and implement solutions. Ensures the availability of materials in the supply chain, as scheduled, and the maintenance of inventory at minimum acceptable levels. Responsible for sourcing and supplying raw materials, utilities and outside services, as well coordinating global procurement efforts. Develops and maintains working relationships with global supply chain partners. Designs and implements business metrics to monitor, track, and report sourcing project progress.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review or update supply chain practices in accordance with new or changing environmental policies, standards, regulations, or laws.
  • Select transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution.
  • Diagram supply chain models to help facilitate discussions with customers.
  • Develop material cost forecasts or standard cost lists.
  • Assess appropriate material handling equipment needs and staffing levels to load, unload, move, or store materials.
  • Appraise vendor manufacturing ability through on-site visits and measurements.
  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders.
  • Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 10-12 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 8-10 years of experience
  • At least 4 years in a supervisory capacity
  • Technical Skills:
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner or develop alternative solutions
  • Proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office programs and Windows operating system
  • Ability to thrive in a changing, fast-paced growing and dynamic business
  • Detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Extended screen time
  • Long periods of sitting
  • Potentially long hours

Supervisory Responsibilities:   

  • Manages experienced professionals who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.  
  • Often heads one or more sections or a small department.   
  • Plans, conducts and supervises assignments, generally involving larger and more important projects or multiple projects.
  • Evaluates and determines changes in methods or procedures in assigned area of responsibility.
  • Determines candidates for employment/termination.
  • Conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff.
  • Responsible for the application of company policies.

Travel Required: Occasional
