Responsibilities

• Set up, program, and operate 5-axis CNC milling machines using CNC G-code programming and CAM software to produce intricate aerospace components.
• Interpret mechanical blueprints and detailed technical drawings, including GD&T specifications, to ensure accurate machining processes.
• Perform machine calibration and tool setup using precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
• Conduct quality inspections throughout the manufacturing process utilizing measurement tools and visual inspection techniques to verify conformance to specifications.
• Maintain machine maintenance routines and troubleshoot issues related to CNC machining tools, grinders, and other machining equipment like lathes and manual tools.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on tooling design, fixture setup, and process improvements aligned with lean manufacturing principles.
• Document machining operations accurately, including M-code commands, CNC G-code programs, and inspection results for traceability and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a CNC machinist with expertise in 5-axis machining within aerospace or defense industries.
• Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with Fanuc controls is preferred.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints, CAD models (SolidWorks or similar), and manufacturing drawings.
• Mechanical knowledge of machining tools, tooling setups, welding processes, grinders, lathes, mills, and hand tools.
• Skilled in using precision measurement instruments including micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other quality control tools.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for programming and simulation purposes; experience with CAD systems like SolidWorks is advantageous.
• Basic math skills for calculations related to measurements, tolerances, and machining parameters.
• Ability to operate forklifts and power tools safely; knowledge of plastics injection molding processes is a plus.
• Mechanical blueprint interpretation skills combined with attention to detail for high-quality production standards.

Pay: $35.00 - $55.00 per hour
