Position Summary

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator is responsible for administering and continuously improving all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while promoting a safe and environmentally responsible workplace. This position serves as the primary point of contact for environmental and safety compliance activities, regulatory agencies, inspections, reporting requirements, employee training, and incident investigations.

The EHS Coordinator oversees environmental permitting and reporting activities, conducts workplace inspections and audits, coordinates industrial hygiene and environmental sampling programs, and drives corrective actions to maintain compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.


What you will be doing:

Environmental Compliance |

  • Manage all environmental compliance programs in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations
  • Coordinate and maintain environmental permits, registrations, and reporting requirements
  • Collect, document, and submit environmental samples and test data to regulatory agencies and approved laboratories
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports, including air emissions, hazardous waste, wastewater, stormwater, and chemical inventory reports
  • Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies, including the SCAQMD, EPA, DTSC, local CUPA agencies, and wastewater authorities
  • Coordinate environmental inspections, audits, and agency visits
  • Maintain records supporting environmental compliance and permit requirements
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement actions necessary to maintain compliance

Health & Safety Programs |

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs
  • Conduct routine facility inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments
  • Lead accident, injury, near-miss, and environmental incident investigations
  • Identify corrective and preventive actions and track completion
  • Administer programs including Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Powered Industrial Trucks, Personal Protective Equipment, Emergency Response, and other OSHA-required programs
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical inventory systems
  • Coordinate industrial hygiene monitoring activities, including noise, air quality, and exposure assessments
  • Facilitate safety committee meetings and employee engagement initiatives

Training and Employee Development |

  • Conduct new hire safety orientation and recurring EHS training
  • Develop and deliver training materials related to environmental and safety compliance
  • Maintain employee training records and compliance documentation
  • Promote a culture of safety through employee coaching and awareness programs

Recordkeeping and Reporting |

  • Maintain OSHA logs and injury/illness records
  • Track and analyze safety and environmental performance metrics
  • Prepare management reports summarizing compliance status, incidents, corrective actions, and KPIs
  • Maintain documentation required for regulatory inspections and internal audits

Emergency Preparedness |

  • Coordinate emergency response plans, evacuation procedures, and drills
  • Support spill response and environmental incident management
  • Maintain emergency equipment inspections and records


What you need to qualify:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, etc.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • 4 years of experience in Environmental Health & Safety within a manufacturing, aerospace, industrial, or related environment
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies and managing compliance programs
  • Experience preparing environmental reports and maintaining environmental permits
  • Experience conducting workplace inspections, investigations, and employee training
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, SCAQMD, DTSC, CUPA, and other applicable regulations
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste management, air permitting, stormwater compliance, and environmental reporting requirements
  • Strong incident investigation and root-cause analysis skills
  • Ability to collect environmental samples and maintain accurate compliance records
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and EHS management systems
  • Preferred Certifications: Certified Safety Professional (CSP); Associate Safety Professional (ASP); Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM); OSHA 30-Hour General Industry Certification
  • Ability to walk manufacturing facilities, climb stairs, and conduct inspections
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and work in industrial environment
  • This is a hands-on role, an individual who can take ownership of all aspects of Environmental, Health & Safety. The ideal candidate should have strong experience handling day-to-day EHS responsibilities and be comfortable working independently with little supervision.
