Role Overview

The Community Workshops Guide delivers educational workshops for newly arrived families and

individuals, supporting their integration into community life. This role is responsible for recruiting

participants, planning, facilitating, and documenting workshops in collaboration with Alight and the

Resettlement Network Services Collaborative. The Guide will also refer participants to other U.S.

Enterprise programs when additional supports are needed, and ensure accessibility by hosting sessions

both at Alight and at community partner locations.

Key Responsibilities

Participant Recruitment & Outreach

o

Conduct outreach through community partners, flyers, social media, and direct

engagement at community events.

o

Build and maintain relationships with resettlement agencies, schools, religious centers,

and community groups to increase workshop participation.

Workshop Delivery

o

Facilitate 3–5 workshops weekly on topics such as employment readiness, public transit,

financial literacy, healthcare, housing, education, and public safety.

Host regular workshops at Alight as well as rotating sessions at community partner sites

(e.g., libraries, community centers, faith organizations) to expand access.

Adapt curriculum to meet cultural, linguistic, and learning needs of participants.

Cross-Program Referral

Identify participant needs beyond workshop topics.

o

Refer individuals and families to other Alight U.S. Enterprise programs (e.g., family

resource connections, employment and career pathways) and other RNS service areas

(e.g. legal services) for ongoing support.

Community Engagement & Representation

o

o

Conduct listening and co-creation sessions to identify workshop topics and approaches.

Serve as an ambassador of Alight within the resettlement network services and partner

network.

Documentation & Reporting

o

Enter workshop attendance, outputs and outcomes into MRIS and any internal case

management tracker.

Meet internal and grant reporting requirements.

Iteration and Refinement through Internal Co-Creation

o

Participate in and/or lead discussion and brainstorming sessions with the Alight U.S.

Enterprise team if and when you hit roadblocks to recruitment, participation, etc.

Illustrative Measurable Expectations

Deliver a minimum of 12–15 workshops monthly.

Recruit at least 30 new participants quarterly through outreach efforts.

Maintain attendance of at least 6 participants per session on average.

Host at least 6 workshops per month at a community location.

Refer at least 15 participants per quarter to other U.S. Enterprise programs as appropriate.

Maintain and lead in MRIS case documentation for the workshops you lead, and enter case

notes no later than 48 hours after an activity.

Submit 100% of reports within required timelines.

Do the Doable – The mountain can feel big, but you know success can come in small ways, and will lead

the team to have a “doing the doable” spirit.

Qualifications

We’re also looking for the following qualifications and competencies:

Bilingual (English Somali, Oromo, Amharic, Spanish, Swahili, or other languages represented by

individuals new to Minnesota through humanitarian protection programs) highly preferred.

1–2 years of experience in community education, adult learning, outreach/recruitment, or

facilitation.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to adapt content for diverse learning styles.

Proficient computer skills.

Commitment to human-centered and culturally responsive approaches.

You work well with a lot of freedom and do your best work in a culture that does the doable

with whatever resources we have.

You are culturally agile and are invigorated by co-creating with multiple partners.

You have a founders’ spirit, embrace ambiguity, and are joyful to the people you serve and work

beside.

You deliver your work generously and take ownership of everything that lands in your lap.

Salary Range

$50,000 to $53,000K
