Preconstruction Manager – Ground Up Construction
Location: Stamford, CT

A well-established General Contractor based in Stamford, CT is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with a strong background in managing preconstruction activities for large-scale ground-up projects.
The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing projects valued at $5M USD and be confident leading budgeting, estimating, and preconstruction efforts from concept through project award.
Responsibilities
- Lead all preconstruction and estimating activities for ground-up construction projects
- Manage conceptual budgeting, detailed estimates, and bid submissions
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documents
- Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors throughout the preconstruction phase
- Develop and maintain project budgets and cost models
- Analyze subcontractor/vendor proposals and oversee bid leveling
- Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving strategies
- Support business development and client relationship efforts
- Collaborate closely with operations and project management teams to ensure successful project turnover
Requirements
- 7 years of experience in preconstruction and/or estimating with a General Contractor
- Strong background in ground-up commercial construction projects
- Experience managing projects valued at $5M USD and above
- Ability to lead multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing
- Experience with budgeting, conceptual estimating, and GMP development
- Proficient with estimating software and Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of the Connecticut and Tri-State construction market preferred
