Requirements / Qualifications

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires schools to be in compliance when hiring paraprofessionals for classroom instruction. The following requirements are: • • Graduation from High School or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency, and • Completion of two years of higher education (48 semester units) or • Associate’s degree (or higher) or • Pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting instruction. Official transcripts and copy of High School Diploma required within two (2) business days of offer. Candidates are required to attach a copy of their High School Diploma or G.E.D. to the employment application. TRANSCRIPT VERIFICATION:Transcripts and degrees earned outside of the United States must be accompanied by a full evaluation report from a regionally accredited foreign credential evaluation agency. Note: All three documents need to be attached to the application to be considered. 1) Copy of High School Diploma or G.E.D. 2) Copy of College Transcripts or College Degree 3) Copy of valid and current CPR and First Aid Certifications

Works with a group of 20-25 children grades K-8th in enrichment activities and homework in the after school program.

Under supervision of the Program Supervisor and leadership of the Youth Specialist plan, lead, and supervise a group of 20-25 children, grades Kindergarten through 8th, in enrichment activities (in sports, art, science, literacy, and math) and homework; demonstrate the ability to act responsibly and independently, be aware of safety concerns and protect children accordingly; must be able to relate well with children and adults and be able to motivate children to participate in the planned activities; perform related duties as assigned. Minimum Experience: one year experience working with school-age children in an organized setting is required. Note: All three documents need to be attached to the application to be considered. 1) Copy of High School Diploma or G.E.D. 2) Copy of College Transcripts or College Degree 3) Copy of valid and current CPR and First Aid Certifications
