General Job Summary
The Staff Nurse is responsible for assisting in the supervision and delivery of high-quality nursing care within the facility. This role requires a comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice, the ability to support and interpret the nursing program, and dedication to fostering an environment conducive to the physical, social, and psychological well-being of residents
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to residents in accordance with established standards of practice and facility policies.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care plans.
- Supervise, motivate, and evaluate CNAs, CMAs, and other paraprofessional staff to ensure high-quality care.
- Monitor resident status and report significant changes to the physician, family, and interdisciplinary team.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely.
- Ensure proper documentation of care, assessments, and interventions.
- Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and positive resident environment.
- Support residents’ rights and advocate for their physical, emotional, and psychosocial well-being.
Qualifications
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the state of Iowa.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Completion of all continuing education units (CEUs) as required by the Iowa Board of Nursing.
- Previous long-term care or geriatric nursing experience preferred.
- Supervisory experience with ancillary staff preferred, but not required.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
