General Summary:
The Township Trustee is an elected (or, when filling a vacancy, appointed) voting member of the Township Board, serving in a position of public trust with fiduciary responsibility for the affairs of the Township. As a voting member of the Township Board, the Trustee participates in Board deliberations and decisions and may be assigned to additional Township boards or committees as determined by the Township Board.
Essential Job Functions:

1. Serves as a voting member of the Township Board.
2. Attend Township Board meetings on the second Tuesday of the Month at 7pm in addition there will be other special meetings as arranged by the Township Supervisor. You will participate in Board decisions and deliberations.
3. Investigates and studies matters before the Board prior to voting.
4. Shares responsibility for the Township's fiduciary health.
5. Serves on other Township boards or committees as assigned by the Township Board.
6. Qualifies for office by the applicable deadline.
7. Performs other duties as approved by the Township Board.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be a registered voter and a qualified elector of the Township, having resided within the Township as required by law.
- Knowledge of the laws, ordinances and related legislation pertaining to Township government, including MCL 41, MCL 42, and MCL 168.
- Skill in evaluating complex administrative and financial matters and formulating policy and service recommendations.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with citizens, the media, elected officials, employees, other governmental agencies and municipal professionals.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive Board matters as appropriate.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present ideas and concepts orally and in writing.
- Ability to work effectively under stress and changes in work priorities.
- Ability to attend meetings scheduled at night or other than regular business hours.

An individual in this position spends the majority of their time attending Board and committee meetings and reviewing materials in preparation for those meetings, which may take place in an office or meeting-room setting during evening or non-standard hours.
