What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Early Childhood Education/Education Aide Instructor position at Alexandria Technical and Community College?
ABOUT THE POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Alexandria College is seeking an Early Childhood Education/Education Aide Instructor for spring 2027, beginning January 11, 2027, who is prepared to deliver both on-campus theoretical instruction and hands-on learning experiences. The instructor will be responsible for planning and delivering instruction, preparing classroom environments, and developing and maintaining an inclusive curriculum. Additional duties include evaluating student work, maintaining accurate student records, fostering positive interactions with students and staff, recruiting and advising students, and supporting student success. The role also requires maintaining professional skills and credentials, participating in department committees and activities, engaging in ongoing professional development, and building and sustaining industry partnerships, all while demonstrating enthusiasm for preparing the next generation of early childhood educators.
Adjunct faculty members will be compensated at the rate of $1,400 - $1,600 per semester credit.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Requirement
Bachelor Degree in education with 12 semester credits in early childhood education
Occupational Experience Requirement
Four full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience with children ages birth to eight years old.
Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field
- Experience teaching in higher education or technical colleges
- Experience with online and hybrid instruction
- Knowledge of learning management systems (e.g., Brightspace)
- Demonstrated ability to assess student learning outcomes
- Experience working with diverse, underserved, or nontraditional student populations
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team
- Understanding of community/technical college mission and workforce alignment
