Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive music curriculum that aligns with Minnesota state standards and the school’s educational goals.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, using a variety of instructional methods and materials.
- Teach students basic music theory, vocal techniques, instrument playing, and music history.
- Organize and lead performances and musical events to showcase student talent and foster a sense of community.
- Assess and evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their growth and development.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to integrate music into the broader educational experience.
- Maintain a positive and safe classroom environment that encourages student participation and respect for others.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, events, and opportunities for involvement.
- Stay current with music education trends, techniques, and technologies, and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Manage classroom resources, including instruments and materials, to ensure a well-organized and effective learning space.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification in music education for elementary levels.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the community.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- A passion for music and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for all students.
